How to Make This Sweet Potato Pie Recipe

Get ready to whip up a holiday pie everyone will love and adore! It only takes a few ingredients and a bit of mixing.

Prep crust and heat oven

First up, set your oven temperature to 425 degrees F and preheat.

While the oven preheats, make your pie crust and roll it out into a 9-inch pie dish. Flute the edges of the crust, then place it into the refrigerator while you continue with the rest of the prep work.

Prep sweet potatoes

Place a stockpot or medium saucepan of water on high heat and get it up to a boil.

While the water heats up, peel your sweet potatoes with a potato peeler and trim any remaining skin. Cut the sweet potatoes into small chunks to help them cook faster.

When the water reaches a boil, add your sweet potatoes and allow to cook for 13-15 minutes or until fork tender.

Once cooked and tender, drain into a colander, then place back into the pot and mash until the potatoes are smooth and no chunks remain. Allow the sweet potato puree to cool to room temperature.

Make the sweet potato pie filling

Pull out your stand mixer or hand mixer, and add softened butter and sugar. Mix on high speed until fully incorporated.

Next, add eggs and mix again.

Add milk, 2 cups of mashed sweet potatoes, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well on medium speed until the filling is completely incorporated.

Bake the pie
